Hello Mozillians

So this blog is about my journey in Mozilla till now from December 2014 when I joined the community the Mozilla Madhya Pradesh Community after the session of Hour of Code 2014 conducted in Bhopal School of Social Sciences, Rahul Talreja Sir told us about such a community which works to makes the web a safe and better place to live , the non-profit organisation which works with a mission to promote choice, innovation and participation on the internet.

We were eager to learn more so joined the mission where thousands of volunteers join hands to make the web safe and a better place to live.I was informed by Rahul Sir that there will be a meetup where the community members would be meeting to stay in touch and discuss about the further plans.So I attended the meetup with some of my colleagues of my college where I witnessed the awesomeness of the Mozilla Community. I was pleased to meet there Faisal Sir the God Father of Mozilla India community a person with great knowledge and Vaibhav Bajaj Sir the Mozilla Rep a person very kind with a great intelligence and other passionate volunteers of the community.Here I was acknowledged that what is Mozilla all about what is its mission.

Then I became an FSA the official firefox student ambassador by following what I was directed by my mentor.Then in my second meeting with Rahul Sir where I went with one of my friend Abhishek , I was informed about Mozilla and its functions in detail thereafter we planned about Foxwave Bhopal I took permission in my college and hosted the event there with his guidance and support where we initiated a club BSSS Firefox Club with some folks who were keenly interested to work with us , I gave a Club Lead Test and became the same for my club.Where I met some newbies and made them know about Mozilla and its mission and products the same way as I was known about it.

Then later on I attended further meetups of the community with my other club members and one day some of them were interested to learn about l10n and Sumo contributing areas so I planned a meetup with Vaibhav Sir who with keen interest took his time and made us know about the products and several projects of Mozilla.

I am currently in the 3rd rank in Army of Awesome with two badges of 2015 and 2016.

So further moving on in the journey I planned and hosted The Hour of Code 2016 in Bhopal with my friend Aditya Shah a Mozillian and MSP. In two schools in Bhopal with some passionate volunteers we went to teach the younger generation about the web literacy ,privacy on internet, Mozilla and its mission.We were pleased after the session because those two schools didn't teach the children about Computer Science with quality but we went and made them know about the reality and career opportunities further.

So I end up my blog with this and I promise to work for the nation and all the globe to make the web safe and a better place to live.

This blog post is about the Hour of Code conducted in Bhopal during December 7^th to 13^th, 2015.We organized the session jointly . a group of passionate volunteers The Mozillians and Microsoft Student Partners (MSP) of our community. It was all started after my ( Robin Koshy – Mozillian ) telephonic conversation with Aditya Shah a Mozillian  and MSP. Where we discussed about organizing the Hour Of Code-2015.Then we moved a step further deciding a place to choose for the session to be conducted .Thereafter I went to few schools in the town to discuss about the same.

I went to some government as well as private schools but the response I was getting was not good because due to exams ,preparation leave and winter vacation  in schools the event was not permitted even after the authority and Principal’s were interested for the session.But somehow managed convincing them and at last getting two schools Jawahar Public School, Kolar Road,Bhopal and Vikramaditya school,Piplani,Bhopal for the Hour of Code 2015 to be conducted.

The session was to be started by 9am on 10^th Decamber 2015 at Jawahar Public School. The volunteers arrived  to the destination by their own conveyance .We tried to arrange a computer lab but there were only 6 computers and students were more than 75.So managed to get a Projector room for the session but the time was delayed due to the issue stated above .After arranging  the room for the session,preparing  and planning how to move on with the session we invited The Principal Chetna Jarulia Ma’am , teachers and students into the room.

After everyone settled I started the session by welcoming them and thanking them for giving the team an opportunity to teach the students about Computer Science  then the general  introduction of Mozilla and Code.org and the team who were volunteering for the session to make students learn and know about Computer Science and technology.

Then after the introduction the session was started by Vidit Sharma and followed by others we taught about HTML,CSS,Java Script. It was an interactive session where students were keenly interested to learn about computer science and technology.

Unfortunately at the last moment there was an electric cut so we need to change our plan we had got 3 different classes with the students and green board so we (Aditya shah, Vidit Sharma, Raj Nilayam) devided. As we could not take the students to the labs and let them know about minecraft hour of code (code.org/mc) but we were on a mission to give them computer science education so we delivered the best possible knowledge about computer science and technology also i made them aware about the need of coding and made some basic programs of c++ and java. The session got interactive with the doubts of the students over there.

At last i declared the time as a doubt session where they asked me about websites like how to develop and host websites, about cyber security (W told them about how they can make their online identity more secure). We gave them swags from Mozilla who were interactive and answered our questions.

Finally i would like to say it was great to be there with the school kids. I felt so awesome that we could give an amount of my knowledge to the future of India.  Also I would like to thank my friend Aditya Shah who managed to organize the Hour of code 2015. Also I would like to thank my entire team for supporting me to make the event a success.

My First Badge

This blog is about receiving my first badge in Mozilla. An online badge which helps us to get recognized in the community and a token of appreciation from Support Mozilla (SuMo) for a dedicated contribution in the projects of Mozilla.

I am involved with Mozilla since December 2014 was a part of several meetups organized to keep the momentum of Mozilla MP growing.Was a part of FoxYeah campaign. Initiated a club in my college  Bhopal School Of Social Sciences with the help of Rahul Talreja Sir(MozRep) Bhopal.

But even after all this I started my actual contribution for the projects of Mozilla after a meetup arranged with Vaibhav Bajaj Sir (MozRep) Bhopal who showed me practically how to contribute in several projects like l10n and SuMo (Army of Awsome).

Thereafter his guidance I started contribution through Army of Awsome helping out people on Twitter for their queries and thanking them for being a part of Mozilla family. And I developed an interest in the project and within few days I was notified through an e-mail that I have been awarded with a badge.

This badge is awarded to contributors with 50 Army of Awesome tweets during 2015.

I am quite happy after being recognized after working for the project and even excited to keep the work growing.

MOZILLA MEETUP

 This post is about a meetup held to make some fellow mozillian friends who were keen to learn and contribute in some projects of Mozilla. It all started when few members of my (Robin Koshy) club BSSS Firefox Club Bhopal approached me with their queries about what is the contribution area of Mozilla all about.

 Initially I introduced them with the contribution projects of Mozilla.And further to make them practically see and learn about the same I approached Vaibhav Bajaj Sir (MozRep) Bhopal in a telephonic conversation and discussed about the same.

 He was even keenly interested for a meetup and to teach us about the contribution projects of Mozilla. So after deciding an appropriate time and place for all we planned to meet at Domino's Pizza at Aura Mall Bhopal at 8pm on 15th December 2015.

So as planned I reached at the place with the other members with a little delay and Vaibhav Sir was already waiting for us with his laptop.

First of all we congratulated him for being selected for the Leadership Summit to be held at Singapore.Thereafter I introduced my members to him and then we asked him about his experience at Mozilla which he explained in a way that we were motivated to do more for the Mozilla Mission .Then He started with introducing about the contribution areas of Mozilla like l10n,support forum,SuMo and community building.

He taught us about how to translate the stuffs in localisation l10n and how to be careful about the mistakes that can happen leading to errors.

And gave us some examples by translating few strings.Then moving on he taught us about SuMo Army of Awsome that how do we contribute in it. Explaining every steps in detail.and telling us that contribute checking on about errors and some silly mistakes that can happen.We even wanted to learn more but as the time was less and we had to reach home so Vaibhav Sir concluded it and he answered to some of our queries and also offered us with some Pizza's and cold drinks.

So after learning ,interacting and spending a time worth we concluded thanking him for giving his time to teach us about Mozilla.

Net neutrality (also network neutrality, Internet neutrality, or net equality) is the principle that Internet service providers and governments should treat all data on the Internet equally, not discriminating or charging differentially

The internet's success in fostering innovation, access to knowledge and freedom of speech is in large part due to the principle of net neutrality — the idea that internet service providers give their customers equal access to all lawful websites and services on the internet, without giving priority to any website over another.

Due to intense lobbying by telecom operators like Airtel and Vodafone, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is planning to allow them to block apps and websites to extort more money from consumers and businesses — an extreme violation of net neutrality.

TRAI has released a Consultation paper with 20 questions spread across 118 complicated pages and wants you to send them an e-mail by 24^th of April, 2015.

As the campaign goes on we come to know by the reports that in one of the biggest online protests in India, Internet users have sent more than 1.5 lakh emails over the weekend to the telecom regulator asking to protect network neutrality in the country. "This is completely unprecedented. We thought we'll get about 15000 emails in 10 days," said Kiran Jonnalagadda, one of people behind the campaign. 

In December 2014, Airtel had also tried to introduce a plan to charge Internet telephony companies like Skype and Whatsapp a higher tariff. However, the telecom operator withdrew the plan after public outrage. 

 The licence to violate net neutrality will mean telcos could now be in a position to ensure some sites are served faster than others. It could also mean it becomes costlier to use certain applications. Most importantly, it could endanger the very feature of the Internet that has over the years made it possible for countless start-ups, right from the Googles to the Flipkarts, to dream and act big.So by rejecting net neutrality, which will enable telcos to play the gatekeeper to a valuable resource, we will be shutting the door on the entrepreneurial aspirations of millions. That’s because the only way for them to compete with the big moneyed Internet players would be to match their spends to make the Internet work for them. The absence of net neutrality will definitely benefit the telcos while at the same time harming the market by unleashing monopolistic tendencies. Telcos don’t want to be dumb pipes that agnostically transfer data. The cost of their ambition will be the loss of the Internet’s openness.

So we request you all to spread the issue more and more and be the part of the protest to use the freedom of internet.

SAVE THE INTERNET VOTE FOR NET NEUTRALITY.

So today the Foxwave Bhopal event was conducted in the Bhopal school of social sciences.Was much excited about the event of MOZILLA,and had a pleasure to be the part of it.A great thanx to Rahul Talreja sir for guiding the students to know more about the Mozilla mission,telling them that how the volunteers all over the world contribute to make the web safe and a better place.Many students were inspired by the seminar and hence were eager to join the FSA, and later on moving ahead to be the part of a great movement and contribute on their part.I would also like to thank the teachers and my colleagues and also Rahul sir once again for giving their time and giving us the support at every point for making the event successful.

This blog is something about MOZILLA...which was a mission created a decade ago..when the web needed a support a boost to make it secure and a much better place.They created an open source operating system which is known as #firefox..or better known as mozilla firefoz.A non-profit,non-compromised mission where thousands of volunteer are contributing on their part,for making web safe and much better.Here they are also made to lerarn new things,nurture their skills,and we do it same to the new upcoming volunteers.We boost up our confidence.We get to interact with new people,communicate and create a great network.
